NFPA 22 Water Storage Tanks for a Napa Valley Winery

In 2026, One Clarion installed eight corrugated steel water tanks at a winery in Napa Valley, California. The tank system provides potable domestic demand using an NSF/ANSI 61 certified liner, with dedicated fire protection storage designed to align with NFPA 22 requirements and California installation standards.

Project Overview

This Napa Valley installation was built to provide dependable, high volume water storage with clear separation between potable domestic supply and fire protection reserves, while keeping the layout serviceable and compliant.

Our approach

We treated this as a dual purpose infrastructure build. We balanced operational capacity with fire readiness, integrated NFPA aligned components, and accounted for California seismic requirements. The result is a storage system that supports daily winery demand while maintaining a reliable fire protection reserve.

Why it matters?

Wineries rely on stable water availability, especially in regions where fire protection requirements are non negotiable. This system delivers capacity and preparedness with clear fire storage identification and site ready durability.

The challenge

The winery needed a water storage solution that could reliably serve potable domestic demand while also maintaining dedicated fire protection capacity aligned with NFPA requirements. The design also needed to reflect California installation considerations, including seismic anchoring and clear fire system identification.

Inconsistent storage separation

The winery needed dependable potable supply for daily operations while maintaining a clearly dedicated fire reserve that stays protected and available when needed.

Fire protection compliance needs

Fire suction components, access, and identification needed to be integrated into the tank system so the fire reserve is clearly marked, easy to service, and ready for emergency use.

California site conditions

The installation required anchoring and seismic measures appropriate for local requirements so the tanks remain stable and reliable over the long term.

The solution

One Clarion designed and installed, alongside our industry partner, an eight-tank corrugated steel system for domestic water and dedicated fire protection storage. Domestic storage was specified with an NSF/ANSI 61 certified liner to support potable water use. The system included two 28,000 gallon tanks at 25'7" diameter x 7'3" height and six 42,900 gallon tanks at 18' diameter x 23' height, plus an integrated pump house configuration, seismic anchoring, and NFPA suction components and fire signage.

Engineered tank system and sizing

Installed eight corrugated steel tanks arranged to support both domestic demand and dedicated fire storage with a system layout built for long term serviceability.

Integrated pump house configuration

Incorporated a pump house shed configuration over pump room tank shells to protect equipment, streamline access for maintenance, and keep the site footprint efficient.

Fire ready components and compliance support

Included NFPA compliant suction components and fire signage to clearly designate fire storage and support inspection, documentation, and operational readiness.
